Banff Lake Louise Winter

Winter:

Renowned for its unparalleled ski terrain, scenery and other winter activities, Banff is home to three ski resorts (Sunshine Village, Mt. Norquay, and Lake Louise Ski Area), and features more than 248 runs, and over 7,700 skiable acres. Banff boasts an annual snowfall of 30 feet and offers a variety of terrain for beginner and intermediate skiers and snowboarders, as well as double and triple black diamond runs, glacier carved bowls, remote powder chutes and challenging mogul fields for experts.

A three- area interchangeable lift ticket provides you access to all three resorts and one of the longest ski seasons in North America. Free shuttle service to the 3 ski areas departs from close to most hotels in Banff. An ideal location for heli skiing, you’ll discover majestic panoramic views from the ridges and peaks and witness breathtaking glaciers and brilliant glacial lakes.

Banff has recently become an ice climbing destination as the topography, with it’s towering cliffs and melting snow creates frozen waterfalls and ice flows that are numerous and provide the ideal conditions for ice climbing. If you have never tried it, beginner excursions are available though our guided services.

Other winter activities include: ice walks, ice skating, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, dog sledding and cross-country skiing. Backcountry skiing via alpine touring is also available through our guide services. Besides being the ‘new school’ experience favored by the local skiers, alpine touring offers great powder skiing while enjoying a leisurely or strenuous climb using climbing skins. Ask us about one of these days away from the ski areas. Our guides make it fun, the scenery is spectacular and the runs down are ones that you’ll never forget!
