 Central Colorado Snow Cat Skiing

One of the first steps to experiencing back country skiing and snowboarding. The world away from the lifts and resort crowds. You and up to 11 other people with your guide to show you the best snow, teach you about navigating in the back country and keep you out of trouble. With today’s wide, rockered backcoutry skis this is an experience that can be enjoyed by a strong intermediate skier who can handle a variety of conditions at the resort and introduce you to a whole new world of back country skiing. Intermediate snowboarders find this paradise as this is what their tool is made for. This snow cat skiing operation has been in service for over 15 years and offers one of the best price points we have seen.

Central Colorado Snowcat Skiing operates on 2460 acres with an average annual snowfall of 260 inches. Runs average 1500 vertical feet. Central Colorado offers open bowl skiing, gladed tree skiing and riding while guides search out the deepest and lightest powder. Guests can expect 10-12 runs per day depending on the strength of the group. The cats carry one driver, two guides and up to 12 powder riders. The cats are plush, heated and have a CD stereo system if guests want to bring their own music to listen to on their ride back up for the next run. Price includes a gourmet lunch in the Central Colorado heated back country yurt. Apres ski is provided after a long run down to the base lodge. Guests are provided with avalanche transceivers and instructions on use. Guests are asked to use ‘fat’ powder skis or ‘deep powder’ boards. Fat powder skis are available for rent through the ski shop for $20 per day, please arrive at 8:00 a.m if renting equipment. 36 hour Advance Reservations are required. Season is mid december to early April. $275 per person includes lunch, safety training & gear. Powder ski and snowboard rental is additional.

Lift Serviced Backcountry Skiing

Take the lift up to access backcountry powder skiing! You are picked up by vehicle in the runout and transported back to the lift. This is available on 4 of the Aspen Mountains, a one and a half hour easy drive from Beaver Creek.
One of the secrets and pleasures of Aspen/Snowmass is the lift-served  backcountry skiing/riding available just beyond the boundaries of the ski resorts. Aspen Expeditions, a White River National Forest Service  permittee,  has  been guiding the winter backcountry since 1976. AE has a unique relationship with the Aspen Skiing Company to access the backcountry from near the summits of the ski areas. Our professional   IFMGA/AMGA trained or certified ski mountain guides  have been guiding  beyond Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlands, Snowmass and  even Buttermilk  for over 20 years. On a powder day there is nothing quite like skiing  beyond the boundaries of the ski area. Ski 1500 ft descents and go back   up or ski/ride long descents over 3000 vertical feet to the valley  floor  through groves of aspen and evergreen trees. This experience is an affordable alternative to snowcat or heli skiing by using the lifts for uphill transportation. Come back at the end of the day with an experience that no one else had!
