The Wyman Hotel. In Town. $$$ Drive to Ski Area.¬†Built in 1902 by Louis Wyman, a German immigrant, as a “respectable social hall” in the mining town of Silverton, CO, the Wyman Hotel and Inn has as colorful a past as the town in which it stands. Today, this Victorian styled hotel boasts to be Silverton’s only luxury accommodations. Every room in the Wyman Hotel and Inn is furnished with turn of the 20th century antiques and features king or queen-sized beds with feather bed toppers, down pillows and down duvets. Each room has a private bath, telephone, television and ceiling fans. The Wyman Hotel and Inn sits at an elevation of 9318 ft (2840 m) therefore air-conditioning is not necessary. All rooms have complementary wireless internet service as well. There are 18 rooms, each with grand views of the surrounding San Juan mountains and a whimsical western name. Room configurations include single queens, double queens, single kings and one three-room suite that sleeps up to six people. The Wyman Hotel specializes in romantic mountain getaways. Four rooms feature lavish king-sized beds and two-person whirlpool baths. Those looking for complete privacy and romance can choose the Candlelight Caboose, a converted Southern Pacific train caboose furnished with an antique bed from Spain and a soothing, two-person whirlpool tub. There is also a cozy sitting area with a fireplace. This accommodation is only available from June 1st to October 31st. Romance packages can be booked for all rooms and feature fresh flowers, champagne or wine, breakfast in bed and a romantic picnic lunch. The Wyman Hotel has the ambience of a bed and breakfast. Guests are treated to a full gourmet breakfast before venturing forth into the San Juan Mountains. Every afternoon there are tea and pastries, followed by wine and cheese. The social nature of the old building persists as guests will find plenty of room to mingle and meet friends. There is also an art gallery on the first floor featuring Colorado artists. The Wyman Hotel and Inn is non-smoking and has free, on-street parking.
