Telluride Winter

Hot. That’s what Telluride is these days. Dave Riley, the Telluride Ski Area CEO, has aggressively expanded terrain up Palmyra Peak and hike to terrain to Bald Mountain, Black Iron Bowl and Gold Hill Chutes in the last two years. Telluride now hosts the LG FIS Snowboard World Cup stop featuring the best riders competing in giant slalom and snowboard cross.. What does this mean for the average skier? It reflects a European ski experience with the dramatic and rugged peaks of the San Juan mountains surrounding you, a mountain culture that is the result of high alpine and backcountry experiences including Colorado’s oldest heli skiing operation and this flavor is carried by the population into the town so that you are immersed in an undiluted alpine flavor in the hotels, restaurants and on the streets providing you with the opportunity to soak up and learn what’s it’s like to be in an alpine town, not one that pretends to be something else…a cowboy, a movie star, an urban transplant. Here, you are a skier or snowboarder, either one, and an aspiring alpinist. Pretty unique.

Ranked one of North America’s top 10 ski areas by both SKI and Skiing magazines, Telluride is a complete alpine resort.
